This afternoon an assassin took the life of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk during a speaking event at Utah Valley University.
As is the norm with such events, details are sketchy and in a constant state of flux. As of this moment, the reports state the shot was fired from 200-yards away, and the assailant is still at large.
Charlie leaves behind his wife Erika, and their two children.
What does this mean for all our nation? Honestly, it is too soon to tell. But, we can attempt to assemble predictions through pattern recognition.
Within the past year, leftists have attempted twice to assassinate President Trump (that we know about), murdered the CEO of United Healthcare, and have, in the “lone gunman” – excuse me – “lone gun-they/them” sense, conducted multiple mass shootings including the recent attack at Annunciation Catholic in MN.
What those on the right have not done is physically retaliate. Nor should we.
Whatever emotional roller-coaster you find yourself on over the next 72-hours, I strongly suggest redirecting that energy to the gym (or, just dig a hole in the yard till you’re exhausted) if that’s what it takes to dissipate anger and reclaim rationality.
The size and scope of the destructive forces we are navigating are far bigger than any single politician, pundit, media personality, or blue-haired college professor found to be personally repugnant. Nothing positive will be accomplished by any violent confrontation.
We must remain the adults in the room. That doesn’t mean we allow them to control the narrative or continue to engage in shooting sprees. It is most certainly beyond time to sternly, and without quarter, say NO. No, to all of their childish economic fantasies. No, to their insistence that gender is fluid. No, to their demands we capitulate. And, HELL NO, to their violent attacks.
Not a single one of us should start any physical fight. We shouldn’t escalate, incite, or dare anyone to “FAFO”. Our position should remain defensive – the end. However, every single one of us should be ready at all times to fight, and then immediately end the fight with fierce and overwhelming force! I’ve been droning on about this for years – we don’t get to choose the who, what, where, when, or why of our next fight. It is a come as you are affair – ready, or not!
Of course, when I press friends, relatives, and former students about their present defensive status, I’m often left completely disappointed in their unwillingness to carry. And, if I listen long enough, rarely do I hear anything but excuses in the vein of “it’s an uncomfortable hunk of metal that the sign at my work says I shouldn’t have and it’s been too hot out to wear a cover garment and I never go anywhere dangerous anyway”. At this point, I’m not sure what it is going to take to motivate the good among us to carry guns daily.
Today’s event was a POLITICAL ASSASSINATION. The mass murders by the trans attackers are POLITICAL ASSASSINATIONS. The shots fired at Trump was an attempted POLITICAL ASSASSINATION.
ANTIFA/BLM riots, the open border, the COVID lock-downs, the election fraud, tranny story time, and activist judges are all POLITICAL in nature. We are in a political war that is turning hot before our eyes. We are their enemy and their target – none of us gets a pass.
We have been playing by the rules of “compromise” and “it’s not polite to talk about religion and politics”, while the left was playing by Saul Alinsky’s Rules For Radicals. And they have now shifted to outright murder of their political adversaries. The left is a death cult that’s willing to sacrifice their own children on the alter, so let’s quit pretending they don’t consider us fair game.
Again, I’m not suggesting violence, I’m suggesting we all need to admit what we’re dealing with and be prepared to finish it when they start it.
Pistols on our person, rifles on stand-by, medical kits at hand – EVERYWHERE, AT ALL TIMES.
Lastly, over the next few days, weeks, and months there is going to be all kinds of talk about gun control, gun free zones, metal detectors, and “the children”. DO NOT capitulate to any of it! Whether it is the head of your church security team, your mayor, your police chief, your child’s teacher, or Donald Trump – allowing ourselves to be disarmed at any gathering or any locale just so everyone “feels better” is the behavior of weak, feeble, moronic, losers. Stand against it – and anyone who suggests that you’re better off helpless needs to be instructed to go pound sand!
Today’s perpetrator was 200-yards away on a rooftop – forcing attendees through metal detectors and to be disarmed would have accomplished nothing but making them more vulnerable – if nothing else during their trip to and from the parking lot, just like everyone attending a professional sporting event or concert is.
The answer is not rules, regulations, or laws. The answer is personal responsibility – which it is beyond time to take.
