“Would you feel safer with a sign on your house saying ‘this house is a gun-free zone’? But if you wouldn’t put these signs on your home, why put them elsewhere?” – John Lott

Today in Chattanooga, TN, Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez opened fire on a Naval Operation Support Center and a Marine/Army Recruiting Center, murdering four Marines. Due to the edicts of high ranking officers, Pentagon hacks, and slimy politicians, our military personnel are routinely left disarmed and helpless. The same group of hoplophobes has assured that they have ever present armed security, all the while preaching that none of us can be trusted and must traverse the world around them in “gun free zones.”

Pictures from today of the bullet riddled recruiting facility front door clearly show a posted “No weapons” sign, the irony of which would produce laughter if it wasn’t so evil. My anger at those responsible for such policies is immeasurable – the blood is on their hands.

In some jurisdictions “No guns” signs are meaningless when it comes to prosecution; in others they carry the weight of law. I would never suggest anyone break the law, but I would suggest there are four Marine families right now wishing their sons had.

We live in a violent world full of violent people. More events like today’s are on the way. Maybe tomorrow, maybe next week – we don’t get to know when. What we do get to know is what happens to those who are not armed and ready when the attack occurs. Generally, they die.

We all have two choices:

1- Go about our lives unarmed.

2- Go about our lives armed.

Being armed carries great responsibility and requires changes in lifestyle. Those who are serious find a way. Those who are not find an excuse.

I’ve made my choice.

Your turn.
