Fortress Staff Instructor Tommy Teach gives us his take on what our nation faces

Terrorism: noun ter·ror·ism \ˈter-ər-ˌi-zəm\
: the use of violent acts to frighten the people in an area as a way of trying to achieve a political goal

Assimilate: verb as·sim·i·late \ə-ˈsi-mə-ˌlāt\
: to learn (something) so that it is fully understood and can be used
: to cause (a person or group) to become part of a different society, country, etc.
: to adopt the ways of another culture: to fully become part of a different society, country, etc.

Many years ago, after my days in the military, I was discussing US policies on terrorism with my parents. I went into a detailed description of what I saw while on deployment to Somalia, and why I knew we would be attacked stateside. The focus of our mission in Somalia to hunt terrorists under the cover of Operation Restore Hope. It became quickly apparent that the Muslim religion was well organized, well-funded, potentially violent, and that our government was up against a political wall defending the nation in any meaningful way. In the 90’s leadership was tentative and weak; President Clinton should have extended the operations in Somalia and expanded the hunt for terrorists, but capitulated to political correctness and his lust for re-election. Usama Bin Laden was a known and serious threat at that time, but left alone to fight another day. Since 2001 numerous attacks have occurred in and out of our borders. Ft. Hood, Oklahoma, Washington Naval Yard, San Bernardino and Benghazi, just to name a few. Yet, our resolve to confront reality and take effective action continues to diminish with each passing day.

Currently our country is being “led” by even weaker apologists than Clinton; they blatantly refuse to do what is best for America and its citizens. As soon as an incident or attack happens, our “leadership” rushes to the nearest microphone to manipulate events for personal and political gain. They scream about “workplace violence” and “gun control” and “a small minority of extremists”, but refuse to acknowledge that this is war and who the enemy actually is!

We have thousands of miles of open borders (both north and south) which law enforcement cannot effectively secure due to ridiculous rules of engagement drafted by those in charge. We have a laughable immigration policy which does little to establish real identities or actual points of origin. Our law enforcement, first responders, and military are stretched thread thin, and as if that’s not bad enough the current administration has done everything it can to villainize this nations police officers!

We are dealing with a cunning, well educated, well organized, enemy, who has become ever increasingly proficient at guerrilla warfare, and they are here and in place – Some since birth, others through legal immigration, and even others illegally through our porous borders. Yes, there are Muslims who are here to make a better life for themselves and are not a threat, but among them are those who are. Enough to do real damage. They have taken up residence in our cities, our communities, and our neighborhoods, and some are even attending classes in engineering, chemistry, biology, and electronics, in preparation for their roles in Jihad.

We’re now being told it’s our duty to welcome masses of fighting age, male Syrians, without possibility of any proper background checks. As we’ve seen in Europe, we can expect that once on our shores they will scatter into the wind and won’t be heard from again until Americans are dead. The probing has already begun with lone wolf attacks which limit exposure and divide our focus. This will grow into a larger, accelerated crusade against the West. These sleeper cells have organized into more advanced trained teams, which are mobile and seeking out multiple soft targets to attack. Targets similar to Boston, London, San Bernardino, and Paris. We can expect attacks to become more frequent, widespread, and more violent, inflicting larger body counts. They have most assuredly assimilated – as a Trojan Horse.

The questions are: How do we track these people? How do we investigate them logically and efficiently? How do we effectively vette each and every person coming into our nation? How do we monitor every potential terrorist gathering place? And how do we do it constitutionally while holding to the ideals of liberty?

…I’m not sure I have the answer.

What I do know is that we have evil among us. An evil that is not genetic, but learned. It’s an evil that is ideologically-based, the most dangerous and powerful motivator of them all. It doesn’t span one generation, one ethnic group, one race, or any one culture. It’s an Evil so vile good people find it hard to fathom – an evil that few in this nation are willing to face.

Well, I’ve already faced it. I’ve seen it with my own eyes, and I’ve fought it with my own hands. I’ve spilled its blood, and I’ve watched it spill the blood of my brothers. I also know that it is not an evil that can be reasoned with. The only way to deal with it is to kill it.

My advice: keep your head up, your eyes open, pay attention to your surroundings. Go armed, and have a plan.

Remember, the cavalry will not be coming to the rescue.
